The other day, I saw a commercial for “Fashion Star” – a fashion
competition television show where the winning contestant’s design is made
available for purchase in stores and online immediately after each episode. I
began to wonder about the logistics of supplying retail items practically
instantaneously. I did a little research on flash sales and “broadcast retail”
and thought others may find it interesting as well. Multi-channel sale systems
have serious supply chain considerations regarding customer expectations, order
fulfillment, IT infrastructure, and sophisticated inventory management.
